Freelancing can be one of the most rewarding career. There’s just no better feeling than earning your money based on your own sweat and working as many hours as you want.

However, freelancing is a very general term and there are so many routes to take. You may ask yourself, how do I find a niche that’s right for me? How do I know what skills I will excel at?

What freelance job is right for me?

One of the most popular career path among freelancers is web design. It is a skill that can be developed in a few short weeks of intense study. There are lots of opportunities and the work can be very entertaining.

There are also many web developers/programmers and writers who work freelance. Another interesting career path may be into freelance Internet marketing. Once you know how to market articles and bring in traffic to blogs, it’s pretty easy and can be done from home or any place with an Internet connection.

How to market yourself

Building a noticeable online profile is the first step. After you sign up with sites like Elance, make sure you create a good profile. Adding a photo could also be an advantage.

Once you’ve got all the information and motivation to get started, you just have to play your part. Start networking with other freelancers in the field and subscribe to interesting RSS feeds and Podcasts.

Once you know your passion and what you want to do, finding a freelance niche isn’t a too difficult task, though is a very important one.
